Anthony Carr trained in Emergency Medical Care at CPUT and was working operationally in Port Elizabeth when a 2015 crash on the N2 took his right leg — he self-extricated and directed his own pre-hospital care at the scene. He returned to complete his BTech as an amputee and moved into research, serving as a research paramedic on the EPIC Trauma Study improving trauma outcomes across the Western Cape.
